Failure to plan....

is a plan to fail and boy did I ever feel it this week.
I did not gain, maybe because I had one of my best weeks ever step and mile wise, but I lost .4 of a pound. Had I planned and prepped, I would have seen some major gains and losses this week. But you live and learn.

I wanna be honest about meal prep...it sucks to a point. You are left with a stack of dishes and a massive mess in the kitchen...I do try and clean as I go, but inevitably it happens. But here is where I wanna say it is totally worth it! After I finish the prep this weekend....I may have to spend a couple hours in the kitchen between cooking and cleaning to have the next 7 days breakfast and lunch done. No more mess to clean up....the only meal I have to cook is dinner and if I have a crazy busy day, I don't mind doing all dishes after dinner since it will be a couple of forks and my salad bowl. Paper plates for the win when reheating.
Ah yes, but there is no variety....oh but there is! I may have a  salad every day for lunch....but I mix up the dressing or the protein...one of my meal prep items today is a pork tenderloin so some days it will be chicken and some it will be pork. I eat a different flavor Greek yogurt. I have two different breakfast items meal prepped...I alternate. This week is frittata and freezer burritos. Next week may be burritos and overnight oats. The big way I do variety is dinner. I do not meal prep dinner. My husband is not a huge fan of leftovers so precooking his dinner and reheating it felt to much like leftovers to him. But again, only meal I have to cook and clean up after all day, I am in.

I am highly guilty of the quick grab. I have noticed if I know I have that salad in the fridge ready to go, on pizza night, I would rather have that. When we are out and about, if I am grabbing fast food for the mini and the husband, I will do home and eat my salad. So I am now starting to see a savings in other ways. Not only in my waist line! Gains I am telling in everything!

So this past week, I did not prep....this happened
I can plan...I can write it all down, I can shop for it...but if it not is not prepped I am going for whatever I can get my hands on. I got everything for having shakes at night but because I was trying to keep up with dishes from all day and life in general...I had one last week which lead to late night snacking instead of a shake and water after 8:30.

I have learned 3 tips I want to pass on to help with the planning and prepping:

1) Pick a day and a time.....this helps the way you shop. If you prep the same day, you run out on the same day. I also try and plan my meals the same day. This allows me to order my groceries from Wal-mart and Schwan's.

2) Don't get discouraged when you turn and look and see all the dishes....you will be thankful when the alarm clock does not go off on Wednesday and you are throwing a breakfast burrito in the kids hand over a package of poptarts....to quote a friend of mine...Mama loves you now go, you ain't missing that bus!

3) Stick with it, I tried this for weeks till it clicked. It is a whole bunch of trial and error. It is throwing away a few over prepped things, and sitting in the kitchen floor throwing a fit because ebery pan is dirty....BUT it SO worth it at the end of the day.

Confession....I was almost ready to throw in the towel and give it up....then I had that break through and this past week and seeing how much I hurt myself by not prepping and planning...PSHHHH nope
I have come to far to let it all slip away today!! 17 days and counting till the big 365 day reveal of then and now!! This is huge! So I am pushing for 5 more pounds lost and to take some pretty cool before and afters!!! But for today....house, school, park with the kiddo and of course:

 Just for today.....
