Eating to make it all go away....till you find it behind you

If hunger is not the problem, then eating is not the solution. ~Author Unknown

Best quote I have heard in awhile.  There are many of us, I included, who turn to food when the world kicks us.  Well, I myself had to figure out....pizza would not solve the problem caused by some words used by an asshole.  Reese's Cups only made me happy for about the 20 seconds to eat them...Coffee on the other hand is my other best friend...has never let me down, and I can always depend on it to be a cure all.  But I digress...

What do we do?  We stop looking to the food as an escape.  If an idiot pisses you off, let the idiot know he did.  Otherwise you are gonna go home, eat something you don't need and still not feel better.  I DID this for years till I figured out why and how it all started.  This is a personal journey and while I have started healing and dealing with this, this is too much of a public forum to dish about my past, besides you never air your dirty laundry in public (Thanks Mom).  You have to do this for you, figure out where the turning point was...get mad, real mad, and then take a walk to blow off the steam.  Eating can be an addiction and just as Alcoholics have their 12 steps...so do we.  The first step is the same....admit there is a problem,  from there take the steps to fix it.  You have the power over the food.  So how do we do this....find a person to talk to, a sponsor so to speak...when you are looking for a fix call.  It will take some time.  My name is Audie and it has been 5 weeks since my last twinkie.....crazy as it sounds.  It works.

So yeah if we are not eating our problems away, what are we doing...Holy shit we are growing as people and making people responsible for the words and actions.  We are making our situations better and in the process as we are shedding pounds and shedding the baggage that contributed to the pounds in the first place.  If a friend likes you fat and stops talking to you when you get skinny, well you bet you were there to make them feel better and heaven forbid that you grow as a person.

Another thing is that with the whole weight loss journey, it is not just the outside that is changing, we are making changing inside as well. The thing about change is it scares people so make sure the people you are around can adapt to it.  As the outside is looking better the inside is feeling better and together it makes for an awesome person all the way around.

So yeah, time to go refill the coffee cup and meeting next week....no one bring doughnuts.  Happy Dieting.

"If a friend likes you fat and stops talking to you when you get skinny, well you bet you were there to make them feel better" ...This really speaks to me. I am starting to think that maybe this is what is going on with me and a certain "friend" I have/had. Great blog!

Been struggling with something for a bit and this is more about my perception of the statement not the actual meaning the other had behind...
