Reflecting

So I have been at this diet thing for about a month and a half now and feeling pretty good.  I also realize that Monday is Veterans Day and Thanksgiving is not far off so I wanted to take a minute and do some minor reflecting and give thanks for a few things in my life.

First I have to say thank you to all Veterans, past, present, and future.  I was a Navy Brat and I am currently an Army Wife.  Been trained for this job since I was small and know most of the ins and outs of things, but damn if the acronyms don't trip me up.  I am learning though and have gotten a handle on most of it.  I have numerous veterans in my family and my extended family as well.  No one knows the true sacrifice of these men and women, and the family's of these men and women as well.   At a moments notice they could be gone for a week, a day, a month or a year.  You never know what a phone call might bring and you never know when I will be late for dinner means dinner a week from the night you get the message.  But these men and woman do what they do for our country and I stand behind and beside my solider firmly.

I am thankful for so many things this year and one of the biggest is my family.  I have a beautiful little girl who is almost 5 months old. I have a husband who makes me a priority and feel good about what I am doing for me.  I am thankful I have a roof over my head, a kitchen over flowing with groceries, and a light that comes on when I flip a switch. I made it through my first year of marriage, peacefully is a big THANK YOU.  I am thankful that my health scare was dealt with quickly and I got a clean bill of health back.  I also am thankful I had the Mom I did.  My mom passed away three years ago last month and did not get to meet my husband or my daughter but she has been with me every step of the journey to get to this point.  She taught me a lot of things from how to cook, to scrap booking, to how to stand up for me.  I am thankful of the time I got to spend with her and how much of an impact she had not only on us (meaning me and my sisters) but on a community as well.  My mom always had a smile on her face, made the best of everything, and made a lot with very little.  Because of her I know the value of a dollar and how to make it stretch when needed.  I miss my mom, but am thankful for the legacy she left behind.  Tomorrow is never guaranteed...if you love someone let them know and if you are thankful for them, don't wait till Thanksgiving to tell them.

Happy Dieting
